HONOLULU - Malcolm Griffin scored 23 points in his final game as a Sunbird but FPU fell 90-78 in its season finale on Saturday, ending the season with a record of 11-17 (6-14 PacWest).
Griffin completed one of the top two-year career in the history of the program and finishes his career on the program's all-time top-10 list in points per game, assists and steals.
Josh Mason and
Johnell Thompson added 13 points apiece and
Jackson Carbajal had 11 points in his final college game.
Trevon Clayton had a game-high 14 rebounds and Mason added a couple highlight-reel dunks in his final collegiate game.
FPU shot just 34 percent from the field, compared to 54% for the Silverswords, who got 22 points from Kuany Kuany and improved to 16-12 (13-7 PacWest) on the season.
The Sunbirds will be eager to get back on the court and prepare for the 2014-15 season as this year was derailed by injuries and inconsistent play. Clayton will be the key returning player the team will build around, as the team looks to replace four seniors.
