HILO, Hawaii - Fresno Pacific led for most of the game, but was outscored 19-8 over the final five minutes as the Vulcans (6-19, 3-16 PacWest) salvaged a 90-84 victory and a season split with the Sunbirds (11-16, 6-13 PacWest).

Malcolm Griffin led FPU with 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists. His three-pointer with just over five minutes remaining put the Sunbirds ahead 76-71, but the final minutes were plagued with missed field goals and turnovers.

Trevon Clayton added 20 points for the Sunbirds. Jackson Carbajal had 14 points and Jonathan Jefferson had a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Yevgeniy Dyachenko scored a game-high 27 points for the Vulcans. UHH got to the free-throw line 27 times, compared to just 11 for the Sunbirds, and shot 89 percent from the line.

FPU concludes the season on Saturday at Chaminade.
