Fresno Pacific women's water polo team dropped their first home match of the season to CSU East Bay.
This was the second meeting between the Pioneers and Sunbirds this season and ended with FPU falling 9-5. The Sunbirds allowed the visiting Pioneers to take control early holding a 6-2 advantage over FPU heading into the half.
Alyssa Stevens had a strong debut in her first home match as a Sunbird scoring two of the teams five goals.
Kelsie Harvey continued to demonstrate her skill in the cage; she had 14 saves throughout the game along with a steal in the third quarter.
"The first home game is a mix of emotions for us," said head coach
Bryan Suhovy. "We always have to figure out how to balance our excitement and nerves which took us a little while, by the time we figured it out it was late in the match. Our fans were great and supported us throughout the entire match. We're looking forward to our next home match this Wednesday."
The Sunbirds will return to Sunnyside Aquatic Center on Wednesday the 26th hosting Concordia Irvine at 7 pm.
