The Sunbirds used dominant singles play, that included two shutouts, and a sweep of the doubles matches to move to 4-0 on the season with a win over Metro State on day three of the Grand Canyon Invitational.
Kirill Sinitsyn and Kyle Rowe got things started off with an 8-4 doubles win; the pair has yet to lose this season in three matches. Rowe started the season filling in for regular No. 1 doubles partner Amarit Sanchez who had been nursing an injury, but Rowe's play with Sinitsyn has kept him in the No. 1 doubles spot for most of the young season.
Sanchez and Stefan Loop won 8-3 in the No. 3 doubles match, and Marco Gabriel and John Karlman won 8-6 at the No. 2 doubles spot.
In singles play No. 20 Sinitsyn showed why he is one of the top ranked players in the nation with a 6-0, 6-0 straight set victory over Metro State's No. 1 player Gabriel Vlahos. Sanchez also won his match in shutout fashion with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Adrien Delvaux in the No. 2 singles match.
No. 48 Karlman was the only Sunbird to drop a match on the day falling 7-5, 6-1 in straight sets to John Qualls in the No. 4 singles match.
