Sunbirds outgunned by Concordia in 14-4 loss

Despite a dominant defensive first quarter the Sunbirds were unable to overcome a seven goal second quarter in a 14-4 loss to Concordia.

Emily Marr scored two goals to lead Fresno Pacific (1-9) in scoring.  Dani Mortimer and Samantha Clark each added one. Kelsie Harvey had seven saves and three steals for the Sunbirds in the loss.

Concordia (8-7) got six goals from Kathryn Manderino, two in each of the first three quarters, and three goals each from Allie Faith and Jamie Clark.

The Sunbirds trailed by just one after the first quarter, but the Eagles outscored FPU 5-0 in the second and 3-1 in both the third and fourth quarters in the win.

We are frustrated and disappointed with the outcome of today's game. We digressed in a lot of areas,” said head coach Bryan Suhovy. “We will be regrouping and reviewing game tape in preparation for our games this weekend. We expect a much better showing in those four games.”

Fresno Pacific will be back in action this weekend at the Posada Royale Invitational in Thousand Oaks, CA. The Sunbirds will face off with LaVerne on Friday at 1 pm.
