Fresno Pacific faced two of the nation's top 15 programs on Saturday, falling 18-3 to #10 Maryland and 12-5 to #15 UC Davis.
Nicolette Haley scored four goals on the day to lead the Sunbirds.
In the first game against Maryland, FPU tied it up early on with a
Jennifer Cobb goal but it would be all Terrapins from that point as they cruised to the 18-3 win.
FPU fared much better against UC Davis, battling the host Aggies in the first half. Haley gave the Sunbirds a 1-0 lead early and
Jaimie Lugo would tie it up at two early in the second quarter. The Sunbirds took a 3-2 lead on a Malory Retig goal with 3:18 left in the half. The Aggies responded with three quick goals though and would take a 5-3 lead into halftime.
The Sunbirds were still within two goals, down 6-4 midway through the third quarter, but the Aggies closed out the game on a 6-1 run.
Kelsie Harvey had a great game in goal, making eight saves.
FPU (4-18) will be back home in Fresno on Friday for a 1 pm game against Cal State East Bay at Sunnyside High. The Sunbirds lost to CSUEB 15-4 this week.
