Box Score
Fresno Pacific suffered its most lopsided loss of the season, dropping its sixth straight game with a 76-51 setback on the road at Point Loma Nazarene on Saturday.
The Sunbirds struggled offensively, making just 3-of-17 from three-point range and 8-of-21 from the free-throw line. PLNU made its living from beyond the arc, knocking down 12-of-22 three-pointers to complete a season sweep of the Sunbirds.
"College basketball is all about guard play and to be honest we haven't produced offensively on a night-in and night-out basis," said coach Chris Wright afterward. "On the defensive end we tried to go man-to-man tonight to mix things up but they did a good job of slicing us up. We've been playing well overall on the defensive end, but we have to do a better job of generating some buckets. 3-of-17 and 8-of-21 is not getting it done."
Eric Hipolito led the Sunbirds with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Donte Nicholas added 10 points and seven rebounds and was victimized on a night when the officials were letting a lot of contact go.
Kenny Bradford chipped in with nine points and
Zach Kaul, in his first game back from injury, added seven off the bench.
PLNU (15-6, 8-4 GSAC) was led by guard Wil Bush, who hit seven three-pointers to finish with 23 points. Marek Klassen added 11 points and six assists.
The Sunbirds (12-12, 3-9 GSAC) will take on #7 Azusa Pacific on the road this Tuesday. FPU defeated the Cougars by 20 points in the first meeting between the two on January 10.
FPU is now in a tie for eighth place in the conference with Hope International, who upset The Master's tonight.
