Fresno Pacific struggled to score on Tuesday, shooting 23.6 percent from the field in a 59-43 home loss to #8 Biola.
Jessica Torrecillas scored 19 points, but the Sunbirds went through multiple dry stretches and the Eagles (21-5, 13-4 GSAC) would take advantage.
FPU would get within 42-34 with 11:50 left in the game, after a
Callie Rohrbacker three-pointer and
Brittany Baker layup. The Eagles would close things out with a 17-2 run though.
The Sunbirds, who were out-rebounded 46-31 in the loss, had a 6-2 lead early on before a 12-0 Eagle run set the tone for the rest of the game.
Biola led 27-12 before a couple of threes from
Sienna Gonzales brought FPU closer. The Sunbirds would trail 31-22 at halftime.
Jessilyn Conicelli led Biola with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Christina Barclay added 12 points and Jennifer French had 10.
Gonzales was the Sunbirds' second-leading scorer with a career-high eight points.
Jenay Herring had four assists, but struggled from the field on an 0-for-11 night. FPU shot just 4-for-23 from long-range.
The Sunbirds go on the road this Saturday for an afternoon game at Point Loma Nazarene. PLNU came from behind to win the first meeting 62-59 last month.
