Homecoming: Sunbird Star Maesyn Rix Returns to FPU to Join Women's Hoops Staff

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Pacific Women's Basketball is thrilled to announce the addition of respected alumna Maesyn Rix to the coaching staff ahead of the 2026/27 season.

"We are incredibly excited to add Maesyn to our staff," said FPU Head Women's Basketball Coach, Tim Beauregard, who coached Rix throughout her Sunbirds playing career. "During her four years as a student-athlete, she grew into one of the most influential leaders our program has had. Her leadership was not instantaneous. It was forged through growth, self reflection, and a relentless pursuit of becoming the best version of herself. That journey uniquely equips Maesyn to mentor and lead our student-athletes because she understands firsthand that becoming your best self is rarely a straight line.

"Maesyn's passion for people, relentless pursuit of excellence, and commitment to developing Dream Chasers will immediately impact our program. I am most excited for our student athletes to be mentored by someone who has walked in their shoes, understands exactly what they experience as college athletes, and is committed to helping them maximize not only the player they become, but the woman they become."

A native of Auberry, Buchanan High School, and a self-proclaimed "energy giver", Rix starred for the Sunbirds from 2020-2024. The Sacramento State transfer developed into a force in the paint for Beauregard's squad throughout her four seasons, capped off with a memorable 2023/24 season in which the Sunbirds finished second in the PacWest with a 21-9 record and championship game appearance. During that season, Rix led the league in rebounding and was named First Team All-PacWest. At the end of her playing career, Rix was added to Fresno Pacific's record books with the 8th-most career rebounds in program history.

"Not many people are presented with the opportunity to coach on the same court that once shaped them, alongside the person who taught them the true meaning of being a dream chaser," Rix said. "The work Tim [Beauregard] and Santino [Reynolds] do for Fresno Pacific Women's Basketball extends far beyond the field of competition. They shape, mentor, lead, and relentlessly serve others. What they once taught me as a player is now the fabric of who I am.

After graduating from Fresno Pacific, Rix spent one season coaching basketball at Fresno Christian before being hired as the first-ever coach at Clovis South High School ahead of the 2025/26 season.

"Over the past two years, coaching at the high school level has only deepened Maesyn's passion for the profession," Beauregard added. "In many ways, she runs counter to much of the culture in our industry because what matters most to her is not wins or recognition. It is using basketball as a vehicle to develop leaders, build character, and help young women become the very best version of themselves."

Rix is recently-engaged and resides in the Fresno/Clovis area. She is also the proud mom of a one-year-old golden retriever puppy named Nellie June.

"I've never been more excited to serve the next generation of fearless leaders and to chase another dream," Rix said. "It's good to be home."

In additional coaching news, the Women's Basketball program has also added Kyle Lemucchi to their staff.  The Bakersfield native and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo grad was the head boys' basketball coach at Addenbrooke Classical Academy in Denver since 2023.

"We are thrilled to add Kyle to our staff," Beauregard commented. "Kyle is an incredibly caring person with a tireless work ethic who is absolutely ignited by the opportunity to chase his dream of coaching at the collegiate level. It was an easy decision to bring him aboard because he embodies the exact type of character, humility, and selflessness we want in positions of leadership within our program. I have no doubt our student athletes will be impacted by the genuine care he has for people and his relentless commitment to helping others."
