Gustavo Da Silva and Paul Islas scored second half goals to lift Fresno Pacific past San Diego Christian 2-0 in El Cajon on Saturday.

After over 60 minutes of scoreless play and missed opportunites on both sides, Da Silva capitalized on a SDCC defensive mistake and netted the game's first goal. Minutes later Islas broke through the defense, juked out a defender and buried a goal.

The defense played well all day, limiting San Diego Christian to one legitimate opporunity, a deep shot that goalie Gildardo Villaruel made a fantastic save on.

"Luke (Tyler) kept us steady in the back, and we did a great job of limiting opportunities," said coach Jaime Ramirez.

The Sunbirds improved to 8-5, 5-1 GSAC with the win. The schedule gets tougher from here, beginning with a Tuesday night home match against Biola.
