Sunbirds Bounce Back; Beat Biola 68-55

La Mirada, Calif. – #8 ranked Fresno Pacific (18-4, 11-1 GSAC) defeated a tough Biola (RV) team on the road 68-55 Tuesday night. The Sunbirds were able to rebound after their record 14 game winning streak was snapped following a loss at #14 Cal Baptist over the weekend which dropped them two spots in this week's Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

Junior guard James Lewis Jr. had another big night scoring 20 points and snatching seven rebounds to lead the Sunbirds. Lewis was 8-17 from the field and 4-4 from the free-throw line. Sophomore forward Jordan Wild also scored in double figures with 15 points, and was 5-7 from the field, 2-2 from three point distance, and 3-5 from the free-throw line.

The Sunbirds were in control for most of the basketball game and ended the first  half of play with a 39-29 lead. Fresno Pacific never trailed throughout the entirety of the second half, and went on to beat the Eagles by 13. FPU was 24-55 (44%) from the field, 8-18 (45%) from three point distance, and 12-16 (67%) from the free throw line.

"This was a huge win for us," commended FPU assistant coach Chris Wright. "We knew that we had to come in here and play very well to win. Fortunately, we were able to do that and get back on track."

The Sunbirds will host Point Loma Nazarene (RV) this Saturday, February 7th at FPU's Special Event Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30PM.
