Sunbirds lose 113-182 to the Bulldogs

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific did not have enough depth to keep up with Fresno State in their first meeting since the Sunbirds began their program two years ago and the Bulldogs brought their program back last year.  Fresno State defeated Fresno Pacific 182-113.

Even though the Sunbirds did not win the meet, they did win 7 of the 16 events including the final relay of the day.  Cheyenne Coffman led the Sunbird women winning all three of her events: 100 backstroke (57.11), 50 freestyle (23.79) and the 100 freestyle (52.65).

Brooke Turner took the 1000 freestyle (10:50.65) and the 500 freestyle (5:19.92) while Stacy Carter won the 200 IM (2:14.90).

Coach Peter Richardson commented, “I was really proud of our women's performances all day.  It was a great way to open the season, and I'm confident we'll be improving more and more through the season.”

The Sunbird women will meet up with CSU East Bay on Saturday, November 7 next while the men will have their first dual meet with the women on Saturday, November 21.
