FPU Swim Earns Key Wins Against Whittier and Caltech

PASADENA, Calif. - The Fresno Pacific swim and dive teams delivered a strong showing in a tri-meet against Whittier and Caltech, earning a 150–109 victory over Whittier while falling 177–95 to Caltech. The meet featured multiple event wins, relay triumphs, and season-best performances as the Sunbirds continued to build momentum in the pool.

"Today's meet went wonderful. Great weather and competition got the team pumped," said head coach Ray Eggert. "This last couple weeks, we have been working extremely hard and I know their bodies and minds are extremely tired. So, for them to still show up for this meet and swim some best dual meet times, impressed me. We are a month away from conference and I am proud of the focus and drive they are showing in practice and in the meets."

Justin Ferrer highlighted the meet on the men's side, capturing first place in the 200 backstroke with a personal-best time of 1:57.80. He swam four of the last seven events of the meet, including the 200 Breaststroke (2:14.43), 400 Individual Medley (4:12.08), and 50 Freestyle relay split (22.34). The Sunbirds also impressed in the sprints, with Luke Herbert (52.91) and Santiago Schutte (47.83) recording season-best times in the 100 freestyle.

On the women's side, Fresno Pacific dominated the 100 freestyle, sweeping the top three finishes. Jillian Lambert led the way with a time of 54.42, followed by Mia Buller (57.13) and Anja Gunnsteinsdottir (57.72). Lambert continued her standout performance by winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.69. Lambert didn't slow down, securing four first-place finishes overall with two being in the 100 Breaststroke (1:08.69) and the 100 Freestyle (54.42). Kaylin Mutoli had a season-best in the 200 freestyle, coming in at 2:08.48.

Relay races proved to be a major strength for the Sunbirds. The women's 200 medley relay team of Charlotte Wilbers, Tora Elise Lynes Nordli, Mia Manno, and Jillian Lambert claimed victory with a time of 1:52.72. The same quartet followed with a thrilling win in the 200 freestyle relay, touching first at 1:41.96 to narrowly defeat Caltech's "A" team. The men's 200 freestyle relay team of August Ottesen, Laurenz Privo, Nico Barna, and Olivier Petre also posted a strong time of 1:25.73.

Additional standout swims included August Ottesen's third-place finish in the 200 freestyle (1:45.80), Enzo Perragine's season-best 23.57 in the 50 freestyle, and Kai Aus soaring to a time of 55.28 in the 100 butterfly.

Assistant coach Rebeca Bribiesca Speas mentioned, "The meet went great, and it's been encouraging to see consistent improvements over the last few meets. The hard work we're putting in at practice is starting to show."
