Fresno Pacific loses to Cal Baptist

Sunbirds suffer first GSAC loss

 

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – No. 6 Fresno Pacific (17-4, 10-1 GSAC) falls to No. 22 Cal Baptist (16-4, 7-4 GSAC) 77-82.  The Sunbird lose their first conference game as the Lancers continue a 15-game home winning streak.

 

Todd Brown and Marcus West led scores with 18 points apiece for the Sunbirds.  #James Lewis# followed closely with 17 points of his own.  #Kendall Holmes# led the Sunbirds with five rebounds, while Kevin McCaughney led assists with four.

 

The Sunbirds led 43-36 at halftime, but got outscored 34-46 in the second half.  The Sunbirds led by as much as 16 in the first half, but the Lancers fought back to cut the lead to seven before the break.  Cal Baptist broke away in the second to lead by as much as 11 points, and then the Sunbirds came back within one point in the last minute of the game.  However, the Sunbirds could not overcome the Lancers in the final seconds.

 

The Sunbirds will travel to Biola on Tuesday, February 3.  The game will begin after the women's game at 7:30 p.m.
