LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Pacific West Conference announced the 2026 All-Conference honorees on Tuesday evening and Fresno Pacific tennis left an unforgettable mark! Eight Sunbird student-athletes made the prestigious list along with two phenomenal women who earned special award recognition.
The No. 27 Lady 'Birds have led a dominant season, becoming nationally ranked with an overall record of 11-6. The team's success has blossomed from several upsets and standout performances this season, but the student-athletes on courts one and two have truly led the women to victory. Junior
Yume Ueoku was undefeated in singles the entire season until her final battle against Azusa Pacific last week. She was recently named the PacWest Player of the Week for soaring ahead of her opponents time and time again. The native from Japan boasted a 14-1 record in singles and 13-1 in doubles alongside freshman partner
Fabiana Gonzalez.
In her first year, Gonzalez had an incredible record as well, going 11-3 in singles and 13-1 in doubles. Early in the fall, she was a finalist at the ITA West Regional tournament, coming in second against a vetted opponent. Together, the nationally-ranked pair was listed as First Team All-Pacwest in both doubles and singles! The Sunbird duo also swept up two of the three PacWest special awards, claiming Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, respectively. This marks the second All-PacWest honor for Ueoku, who was named Third Team All-PacWest in the 2025 season.
In doubles, junior
Halle Faherty and freshman
Jessica McLean captured Third Team All-PacWest with their 12-2 record.
On the men's side, senior
Emilio Seelbach (5-5) and the recent PacWest Player of the Week, freshman
Jordi Gonzalez (6-4), were named Third Team All-PacWest in singles. Seelbach has fought diligently all season long and was the sole Sunbird to win a point in the intense matchup against No. 38 Azusa Pacific. Whereas, Gonzalez clinched the point in two back-to-back matches, one being the huge conference upset over No. 27 Biola. Their consistent performance has been a critical backbone for the 'Birds.
In doubles, the returning Sunbird duo of
Cedric Kaufmann and
Joaquin Salinas collected the Second Team All-PacWest honor after going 5-4 on court one this year.
NEXT UP: Fresno Pacific tennis will compete at the PacWest Championships held in Surprise, Arizona from April 15-17th. The Sunbird men (No. 6 seed) take on Hawaii Pacific (No. 3) at 9 am, while the No. 27 Lady 'Birds (No. 4 seed) face Menlo College (No. 5) at 1 pm.
