NEW ORLEANS - As announced on Thursday morning, both Fresno Pacific cross country teams were listed in the 2025 USTFCCCA Cross Country Academic awards. To top it off, the Sunbird trio of
Rodney Chemalmal, Aly Chavez, and
Julissa Avila were named All-Academic Athletes for their performances on the course and in the classroom.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes needed a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of regional.
Chemalmal (Nursing), Avila (Pre-Health Sciences/Spanish Minor), and Chavez (Psychology) all met the necessary requirements, securing their place on the All-Academic honoree list. The Sunbirds also excelled collectively in the classroom, with the men's cross country team posting a combined team GPA of 3.40, while the women's team followed closely with an impressive 3.35 cumulative GPA.
