SACRAMENTO, Calif.- A historic season for Julissa Avila came to an end Saturday morning at the Women's Cross Country DII National Championships at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex.

Avila made history today as the first ever Fresno Pacific Women's Cross Country runner to qualify and compete for the DII National Championships. In the Women's 6K, Avila finished 115th in a field of 262 runners with a time of 22:17.

"The nation got whittled down to the top 261 distance runners and Julissa finished 115, an incredible accomplishment for her first nationals qualification," said head coach Ray Winter. "She had an awesome race and really did everything she could today." Winter concluded, "It was great to have so many Sunbirds cheering her on, so close to home, she has definitely inspired our squad to keep on striving for greatness."
