FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Pacific University men's basketball is proud to announce the hiring of notable alumnus Aamondae Coleman as the program's newest assistant coach. Coleman returns to the Sunbirds after an exceptional playing career that saw him excel at both the collegiate and professional levels.
A Las Vegas native, Coleman left an indelible mark during his time at FPU. In his final season he led the Sunbirds to the only NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, cementing his legacy as one of the most decorated players to ever wear the orange and blue. He graduated as the third-leading scorer and ninth-leading rebounder in school history, was a three-time All-PacWest selection, and an All-West Region honoree.
Following his collegiate career, Coleman embarked on a successful professional journey overseas, competing in Iceland, Cyprus, and the country of Georgia before most recently starring for BG Dorsten in Germany. His pro career was defined by his scoring prowess, rebounding strength, and relentless competitive drive.
Head Coach
C.J. Haydock expressed his joy for Coleman's return:
"Aamondae embodies everything we value in this program—relentless work ethic, underdog mentality, toughness, incredible teammate, character, and an uncommon competitive spirit. As a former Sunbird and a professional who's tested himself overseas, he knows exactly what it takes to succeed here and beyond. Aamondae built our program, and for him to return is immensely gratifying. Our players will benefit tremendously from his mentorship and example, and our program got significantly better today."
Coleman will begin his duties immediately, focusing on player development, recruiting, and advancing FPU's competitive excellence in the PacWest Conference.
"Grateful and blessed to rejoin the coaching staff and FPU community," Coleman said. "FPU will forever be home, and I truly am thankful for this opportunity to coach at my alma mater. Go Sunbirds!"
Coleman joins former Sunbird teammate Sean Nealon Lino, who when together as players oversaw the most successful stretch in NCAA program history. He also joins former student manager turned assistant coach
Jerry Razo, and assistant coach
Tyler Revis - who also competed for Coach Haydock as a high school player - giving the Sunbirds a distinct flavor of familiarity.
FPU tips off the 2025-26 season on November 3rd crosstown against the Fresno State Bulldogs. The 'Birds return 12 players, including their three leading scorers, headlined by returning All-Pacwest point guard
Isaac Peralta.
