FRESNO, Calif. - Head Coach C.J.
Haydock didn't look far for a crucial addition to the Sunbirds, signing transfer guard Nick Davidson from fellow PacWest member Menlo College.
The 6'2" transfer point guard comes to the 'Birds after a prolific freshman campaign, where he posted averages of 11.3 points, 2.4 assists, and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting 46% from three. He scored 16 first half points in his visit to the Special Events Center this past season, and finished with 24.
"I chose FPU because I love the team culture they built here, along with the ability to compete for a championship which is my ultimate goal," Davidson said. "My relationship with Coach
Haydock and the rest of the staff was great from the beginning, and this ensures me that I will be able to develop my game for the rest of my college and pro career."
A native of New Zealand, Davidson has long running relationship with current Sunbird freshman Hugo Gonzalez, and sports a 3.8 GPA. He also teams up with freshman forward
Liam Switzer, as two of the three student-athletes who received votes for the 2024-2025 PacWest Freshman of the Year award.
"Nick is a motivated, high character competitor who we are so excited to add to our program,"
Haydock said. "We think he's on a clear trajectory to be an all-league player, and he joins our already talented and connected young core. His scoring, playmaking, and defensive presence will make a massive impact on winning from day one, and we love the competitive edge and mindset he brings to everything he does."
Davidson's career in Navy and Orange will commence in the fall of '25, and he will join a Sunbirds team that features 12 returners, including their three leading scorers.
"I am very excited to get to Fresno Pacific," Davidson continued. "There are many things that I am looking forward to – building relationships with the whole squad and the community of Fresno, playing in the Special Events Center, and contributing to bringing home a championship for the Sunbirds."
Davidson joins previously announced freshman signees Loukas Jones and Abram Potts, and transfer guard Amar Hot, in what is one of the best recruiting classes in recent FPU history.
"We are thrilled with where our program has landed, with the belief of our returners, and signing a deep, talented, and balanced incoming group,"
Haydock said. "Our togetherness and alignment is functioning at a high level, and we are fully focused on maintaining of level work, trust, and togetherness that enable us to move our program forward again next year."
