FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific University Athletics is excited to announce the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for Dan Martin Stadium, scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. This event marks the grand opening of the brand-new home of Sunbird Baseball and celebrates a transformational milestone for FPU Athletics and the entire university community.
Guests are invited to arrive when doors open at 4:00 p.m. to enjoy light refreshments and a chance to mingle before the program begins. Official Sunbird gear will also be available for purchase at the entrance.
The dedication program will begin at 4:30 p.m. and will include remarks from university and athletics leadership, as well as special presentations to commemorate this important moment in Fresno Pacific history.
Following the dedication will be a live recording of the Sunbirds Sports Show, FPU Athletics' exclusive weekly podcast series hosted by local sports personality and FPU Alum Paul Meadors, that airs Wednesday nights on 790 ESPN Fresno.
Construction of Dan Martin Stadium is slated to be completed by Quiring General on March 31, as Fresno Pacific prepares to open the stadium for the upcoming PacWest Conference series and host the PacWest Conference Championships in early May.
"This is an incredible milestone for Fresno Pacific University and Sunbird Athletics," said Kyle Ferguson, Director of Athletics. "We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our donors whose vision and support made Dan Martin Stadium a reality. This facility is more than just a place to play baseball—it's a space where lives will be transformed through the platform of sport, in alignment with our Christian mission. It will serve not only our student-athletes but also our campus and the greater Fresno community for years to come.
Following the ribbon-cutting, guests are invited to take clubhouse tours, step onto the field for batting practice, and meet members of the 2025 Sunbird Baseball team. Free tacos, music, and refreshments will be available throughout the celebration.
The event comes just ahead of a highly anticipated four-game series as the Sunbirds take on conference rival Azusa Pacific University, beginning Thursday, April 10, with additional games on Friday, April 11 (doubleheader) and Saturday, April 12 at Dan Martin Stadium.
Admission to the ribbon-cutting celebration is free and open to all fans, alumni, and community members.
