FRESNO, Calif.-Head Coach Amanda Valentine and the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds Women's soccer team announced the addition of Abraham Enriquez and Matias Fernandez to the 2023 coaching staff.
"We are excited to welcome Abe and Matias to our program this year," Valentine said of her assistant coaches. "They both bring a great deal of experience and enthusiasm to our program, and I can't wait to see the impact they have on the lives of our student-athletes."
Enriquez comes to Fresno Pacific after most recently serving as the Goalkeeper coach for the women's soccer team at Ottawa University Arizona. Previously, Enriquez has also served as the head coach of the women's soccer team at Apollo High School where he led the team to back-to-back regional titles and multiple state playoff appearances. As a player, Enriquez played at Grand Canyon University and on multiple semi pro and professional indoor teams.
A familiar face to the Sunbirds, Fernandez has worked as the men's soccer assistant coach since 2018. Before Fresno Pacific, Fernandez served one year as an assistant coach for Fresno State women's soccer program. Fernandez played at Fresno Pacific and California State University, Monterey Bay. After college, Fernandez began his pro career with the Fresno Fox's of the USL in 2018 and is a current member of the Central Valley Fuego FC.
The Sunbirds open the season August 22 at 7pm with an exhibition game against Fresno City College at Ramirez Field.
