LOS ANGELES, Calif.- Just like the first six weeks of season, the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds track and field team made some significant changes to the program's record book Saturday at the Occidental Distance Carnival.
 
While it was just the distance runners heading to L.A., the Sunbirds delivered three more additions to top-10 lists at the event while also posting more than a handful of personal bests.
 
Bo Olsen led the way in the 800-meters, winning the event, beating his time last year at Occidental and just missing his personal best and remaining 2^nd in program history.
 
Junior Maribel Aguilar's second place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase also made her the 3^rd fastest Sunbird in the event, ever. Aguilar's posted an 11:43.05 in her first steeplechase of the year.
 
Freshman Emanuel Salas came in 3^rd place in the event adding his name to the FPU record books with the 8^th fastest time in the 800-meters.
 
In the 5k, Jake Resendez improved his personal record by 20 seconds with a time of 14:37.53 rocketing four places up the top-10 list to 5^th all-time in Fresno Pacific history.
 
In the same event, Rodney Chemalmal's first collegiate 5k was solid, posting a 14:58.25.
 
The Sunbirds had five compete on the women's side with four of them delivering lifetime bests.
 
Freshman Julissa Avila added her name to the record book in her collegiate debut in the event, posting a 18:08.80 to be 10^th all-time for FPU.
 
Alexa Queenan and Marina Barragan slashed seconds off their previous bests, with Queenan finishing in 18:19.32 and Barragan ending in 18:27.61.
 
The Sunbirds closed the evening in the 10k with Yorkabel Gebrehiwot cracking the FPU top-10 list in 9th with her PR of 38:55.33 and took 4^th in the event.
 
Xavier Smith delivered the final word with a 2^nd place finish, the first collegiate finisher, with a time of 30:59.95.
 
Fresno Pacific will be back with the full squad next weekend at the Cardinal Invite in Palo Alto on Saturday.
