SEATLLE, Wash.-The final day of the University of Washington Invitational produced a Fresno Pacific school record supported by a litany of excellent performances.
 
Abesolom Teffra delivered a time of 8:17.43 in the 3k to set a Fresno Pacific school record in the event and highlight a group of solid performances by the Sunbirds in Washington.
 
Isaac Davis finished in fifth place  in the long jump with a mark of 6.95m. Davis also competed in the 60 meter dash, finishing 9^th overall.
 
On the women's side, the 60 meter dash  was led by Madison Flores finishing 12^th to lead a pack of Sunbirds.
 
Junior transfer Brianna Green had a great opening 400 m run today in 57.53 seconds. Green won her heat and finished fifth overall in her FPU debut.
 
"Our women's sprint squad delivered a very good showing," Fresno Pacific head coach Ray Winter said. "And I think we are quite close to where we started a year ago which was an historic year. I'm very proud of the new Sunbirds like Ariana Vera, Brianna Green, and Iyanna Fuller who have taken up the winning tradition with confidence, and thrilled to see our veterans like Madison Flores and Zara Anthony elevating even further. Our top 3 performances in the 200m this weekend averaged 25.22, and our 3 All-Americans in the 400m from 2022 averaged 25.32 here last year."
 
Teffra led the men's side on day two, but Winter was more than pleased with the overall performances of the group.
 
"Going 1-2 at the UW in any event is a very good indicator that more headlines are coming our way this season," Winter said. "That's what our hurdlers did on day one. And a school record in January is also as good an indicator of fitness and potential as any— a big congrats to Abe Teffra for earning his first school record."
 
The Sunbirds managed to stand out among a field crowded with DI programs and top flight competition.
 
Another group of Sunbirds will head out to the NAU Ron Mann Classic in Flagstaff, Arizona on February 3^rd and 4^th. The whole team will make the trip for the Westmont Sunshine Open in Santa Barbara on February 11^th.
