Sunbirds Turn in Strong Performances at Bryan Clay Invitational

AZUSA, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific University men's and women's track and field teams competed at one of the biggest meets in the state over the weekend, featuring impressive performances from several position groups for the Sunbirds.

WOMEN'S TOP FINISHERS
  • Kyla Richardson torched the 100-meter dash, running an 11.39 for a first-place finish and an NCAA Provisional. 
  • Madison Flores flew in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 54.42 for a fifth-place finish, a personal best in the event, and an NCAA Provisional. 
  • Manibog Gatewood, Richardson, Sharp, and Flores owned the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 45.68. 
    • The group adds another NCAA Provisional to their bag. 
  • Richardson, Sharp, Flores, and Manibog Gatewood also won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:39.60. 
    • The mark is the new school record in the event was the fastest in the country entering the weekend. 
    • It was also another NCAA Provisional. 
  • Xiamara Young was spectacular in the triple jump, boosting a 39'3" for a ninth-place finish and NCAA Provisional. 
  • Hope Erwin threw 39'4" in the shot put and posted a 122'6" in the discus, setting a new personal best. 
  • Maesyn Rix uncorked a 146'3" in the hammer throw, setting a new personal best in the event. 
  • Alicia Garcia launched a new personal best of 136'3" in the javelin. 
MEN'S TOP FINISHERS
  • Brett Lombardi improved on his decathlon personal best, scoring 7,190 points.
    • The mark is an FPU record and an NCAA Provisional.
  • Bo Olsen ran the 1,500-meters in 3:55.43, setting a new personal best in the event. 
  • Cullin Bates finished the 110-meter hurdles in 14.63.
  • Bates also set a time of 53.8 in the 400-meter hurdles to finish inside the top 12. 
  • Toby Bartlett cleared 14'8.25" in the pole vault, finishing just outside the top 10.
  • Isaac Davis launched 45'11.25" in the triple jump.
  • Moe Bradley was excellent in the shot put, tossing it 54'2" to finish third overall.
  • Ayden Merrihew hurled the discus 156'11" for a new personal best.
UP NEXT:
  • The Sunbirds set their sights on the PacWest Championships. The meet runs from April 29-30 and takes place at Point Loma in San Diego.
