Richardson and Davis Standout at Sunshine Open

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific University track and field teams saw the full squad compete for the first time this season at the Sunshine Open hosted by Westmont on Saturday.

MEN'S TOP FINISHERS
  • Zavian Cook zoomed down the track in the 60-meter dash, finishing second with a time of 7.01. 
  • Bryan Banuelos raced the 800-meter run, finishing third with a time of 1:58.32, while Abesolom Teffra finished fourth and Roberto Lopez took sixth. 
  • PacWest Cross Country Newcomer of the Year Xavier Smith took the top spot in the 3,000-meter finals with a time of 8:35.12, while Jacob Resendez and Calvin Abbott finished second and third. 
  • Cullin Bates was flying in the 60-meter finals, winning the event with a time of 8.62. Tamar Archie finished in second with a time of 8.83. 
  • Brett Lombardi, Stewart Fernandez, Joel Vogt, and Nate Barry teamed up to win the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:23.37.
  • Isaac Davis boosted a jump of 22'3.75" in the long jump, good enough for first place. 
  • Davis also won the triple jump with a mark of 46'11.75" while Adrian Hodges and Archie took second and third respectively. 
  • The Sunbirds took the top four spots in the shot put, with Moe Bradley tossing a 52'8" while Jesse Franco, Ayden Marrihew, and Nico Zweifel filled up the podium.
  • Bradley also took the weight throw, with a mark of 45'3.75" followed by Franco and Zweifel. 
  • Toby Bartlett put up 4,092 points in the heptathlon, good enough for second place.  
WOMEN'S TOP FINISHERS
  • Kyla Richardson wrapped up the 60-meter dash in 7.65 for the top spot in the event, earning an NCAA provisional in the event. 
  • Once again, the Sunbirds swept the top four spots in the 200-meter dash, with Richardson taking the top spot with 24.37 followed by Madison Flores, Danae Manibog, and Chloe Sharp, as all four claimed an NCAA provisional. 
  • Veronica Ortega-Ramirez took second in the 800-meters with a time of 2:24.86. 
  • Manibog, Richardson, Kyra Bailey, and Ortega-Ramirez teamed up to take the 4x400-meter relay in 4:00.24. 
  • Nikki Crouch soared for the Birds in the high jump, clearing 5'1" to earn first place in the event. 
  • Crouch finished second in the pole vault with a height of 11'6.5".
  • Xiamara Young earned a first-place finish in the long jump, launching 17'10.75". 
  • Hope Erwin hurled the shot put 40'9" good enough for first place.

  • The Sunbirds compete at FPU Track for the only time this year next Saturday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m.
