Sunbirds Push Win Streak to Four with Another Shutout

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific baseball team finished off a series sweep of Academy of Art on Saturday, picking up a 3-0 win. The Sunbirds have now won seven of their last eight games and will open PacWest Conference action next Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • FPU starting pitcher Garrett Cooper retired the first 14 ART U batters of the day as the two teams exchanged zeroes for the first six innings.
  • Nick Dodd's swinging bunt plated the game's first run in the home seventh, and Brian Hefner followed with a clutch single to right that plated two more.
  • Brady Crow was the first man out of the Sunbird bullpen, overcoming a pair of soft hits to record two scoreless innings.
 
STATS FROM THE DAY: 
  • Cooper went six strong innings on the mound, allowing just one hit and picking up six strikeouts.
  • Crow was the pitcher of record, earning his first collegiate win after Michael Barker retired the side in order in the ninth.
  • Offensively, Jack Foote and Jared Aguilar each gave the Blue and Orange a pair of hits, while Lackey reached base twice via walk.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE: 
  • The Sunbirds allowed just one unearned run over the series.
  • Lackey has reached base safely in all 18 games.
