HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1
  • The Wolves started the scoring early, scratching across a pair of runs in the first while making FPU starter Justin Fuson labor through more than 30 pitches.
  • Michael Warkentin and Garrett Cooper opened the home half with back-to-back walks before coming in to score on a throwing error to tie the game.
  • Andrue Lackey lifted his second homer of the season in the third, a two-out solo shot that put the Blue and Orange back in front 3-2.
  • Jack Foote gave FPU a sac fly in the fourth to make it 4-2, and Warkentin followed with an RBI triple to dead center to add another run for the home nine.
  • Fresno Pacific got to the Western Oregon bullpen before putting up a total of five runs in the sixth and seventh innings to take a 10-2 advantage.
  • The Wolves refused to go quietly, sending 11 hitters to the plate and pushing across five runs to make it a save situation, but Sunbird southpaw Tyler Rumbaugh was able to get the job done.

Game 2
  • A wild pitch gave WOU their first run of the game, but again the 'Birds answered in the home half after Angel Flores singled in the equalizer.
  • A sac fly off the bat of preseason All-American Connor McCord put the Wolves in front for good, but two insurance runs came across in the top of the sixth.
  • FPU managed to bring the tying run to the plate in the final inning but were unable to get any closer, giving Western Oregon their first win of the season.
