HOW IT HAPPENED:
•
Tristen Alvarez picked up the first RBI of the game with a first-inning single to center, and
Angel Flores followed with a fielder's choice that made it 2-0 early.
•
Adam Aleman beat out an infield single the next inning, and a throwing error allowed him to advance to second and brought
Jared Aguilar in to score.  Â
• Micah Pries continued to be terrorize the Sunbirds in the third inning, singling in the top of the third to get the Sea Lions on the board for the first time.
• A wild pitch allowed another run to score, cutting the FPU lead to just one.Â
• FPU's
Nick Dodd and PLNU's Casey Dunlap traded singles in the middle inning to make it a tie game, but Aguilar homered in the eighth to put the Blue and Orange back in front 5-4. Â
• Point Loma first baseman Justin Ledgerwood pulled the Sea Lions even in the top of the ninth, and FPU was unable to plate the winning run in the home half.
• Caleb Kaneshiro gave PLNU a two-run shot in the top of the 10th, handing the Sea Lions their first lead of the series.
• Aguilar left the yard for the third time on the series in the home half, but FPU would get no closer in the opener.

Brian Hefner's sac fly opened the scoring in the finale, and
Garrett Cooper singled up the middle to give FPU the early 2-0 edge.
• Caleb Kaneshiro and Michael Palos each drove in a run over the next two innings to pull the Sea Lions even, and PLNU opened it up with a four-run fifth inning.
• Aguilar gave the Sunbirds their final run of the series with another solo shot that landed on the tennis courts behind left center
• Point Loma added two more in the final frame on a double from shortstop Casey Dunlap.

STATS FROM THE DAY

Esteban Lizaola pitched into the sixth for the Sunbirds, striking out six while allowing three earned runs before giving way to the bullpen.Â

Kobie Anton was the first reliever of the day, overcoming a pair of hits to record four easy out.
Garrett Cooper tossed the final three innings but was ultimately saddled with his second loss of the year.

Alex Garcia was roughed up in the nightcap, surrendering six earned runs on eight hits in just four innings.
• The Sunbirds used four relievers, with Anton and
Josh Acosta each recording a scoreless outing.
