About the Sunbirds (9-16, 5-7 PacWest)
The Sunbirds took the middle two games of a PacWest Conference series against Concordia last week to garner their second series split of the year.
Garret Laine was announced as the PacWest Freshman of the Week on Monday afternoon after going 7-for-8 with a pair of doubles and two RBI in three games. Fellow freshman
Jared Aguilar has reached base in ten straight games, the longest streak of any Sunbird this season.

About the Eagles (16-12, 7-9 PacWest)
Biola lost three of four and nearly coughed up an 11-0 first inning lead against league-leading Azusa Pacific last week, dropping the Eagles to 8-12 against Division II teams this spring. The Eagle pitching staff has stumbled to a 6.11 ERA and have given up more long balls than anyone in the league while surrendering nearly seven runs per game. Those numbers are a bit skewed following the APU series, however, as the Cougars scored 24 runs in the opener, the most of any PacWest team in a single game this season. While the offense has been productive top to bottom, the Eagles are susceptible to the swing-and-miss, as strikeouts have made up nearly a quarter of the team's total at-bats thus far.
Â
The Sunbirds and Eagles have played each other to a 17-17 record in the all-time series and split last season while meeting as PacWest opponents for the first time. The two teams have been on the wrong end of history for one another, as each team has surrendered the other's program record for runs scored in a single game. FPU is 4-10 all-time as the road team in this series, but the two schools haven't met in La Mirada since 2012, when Biola outscored the Sunbirds 19-12 but was forced to settle for a series split. Â
