Four Seniors to be Honored Following Saturday’s Final Home Game

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's basketball team is set for the final home game of the season on Saturday, taking on Holy Names before heading off to the PacWest Conference Tournament the following week. Seniors Ryanne Luchau, Bree Alvarez, Barbara Keomany and Julia Locastro will each be participating in their final home game and will be recognized immediately following the game.

About the Sunbirds (18-9, 14-7 PacWest)
Fresno Pacific saw a three-game win streak come to a close on Saturday evening in San Diego, falling to a red-hot Point Loma team by a final of 69-59. Bree Alvarez and Jessica Malazarte combined for 29 points in the loss, and each still ranks in the top ten on the PacWest Conference leaderboard in scoring. FPU's offense has averaged just north of 75 points per game this season, ranking third in the league.

    • "Julia is one of my favorite people, she is as tough as they come, and she always rises to the challenge. She has pushed through a lot of adversity to continue to play and pursue her degree. She is funny, fiercely loyal, and sneaky sweet to those she loves. Not having her on our team next year will provide a challenge, but she will forever be a part of our family."
 
About the Hawks (3-24, 3-18 PacWest)
Holy Names will look to break a five-game losing skid after committing 18 turnovers against Dominican in San Rafael last Saturday evening. Ariana Hernandez led the Hawks in scoring with 14 points, while Onjalise Carley-Hilliard followed with 12 of her own. The latter enters play this week as the conference leader in field goal percentage, knocking down 51.6% of her attempts from the floor.
 
HNU pulled out a three-point win in a defensive battle in Oakland earlier this season, but the Sunbirds maintain a 20-10 lead in the all-time series. Alvarez gave the Blue and Orange a game-high 26 points the last time the 'Birds and Hawks met, while Pisik rounded out a double-double with 11 points and 16 boards.
