FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's basketball team made the short trip to the Save Mart Center on Friday evening, dropping an exhibition to NCAA Division-I Fresno State. Senior forward Cassie Pisik gave the Sunbirds a game-high 24 points, giving her a total of 51 in two exhibitions so far this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

• Fresno State controlled the opening tip and went on an early run to take a 28-14 lead at the end of the first quarter.
• The Blue and Orange followed with a 13-1 run of their own, capped by a Jessica Malazarte triple that forced the Bulldogs into a timeout.
• The second quarter saw the Sunbirds outscore their hosts 24-13 to cut the deficit to three heading to the intermission.
• Kate McClard knocked down a three-ball to open the third quarter, but the rest of the second half was all Bulldogs.
• Fresno State pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring FPU 34-16 heading to the final chapter.

 
STATS FROM THE GAME: 

• Pisik led all scorers with 24 points and a team-high seven boards.
• McClard was the only other Sunbird to work her way into double-figures, scoring 11 points.
• Malazarte finished her night with eight points and five assists.

 
UP NEXT: 

• The Sunbirds officially open the season next Friday, Nov. 8 against Western Washington on the opening day of the West Region Crossover Classic. Tipoff from Arcata, Calif. is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
