FRESNO, Calif. – Following one of the busiest stretches of the season, the Fresno Pacific women's basketball team is set for just one game this week, a visit to the Bay Area for a PacWest Conference battle with Academy of Art.

About the Sunbirds (10-4, 6-2 PacWest)
FPU won its' first two games last week before seeing a seven-game home win streak come to a close last Friday against defending league champ Hawai'i Pacific.
Bree Alvarez and
Jessica Malazarte are each averaging 15.2 points per game, rounding out the top ten on the PacWest Conference leaderboard. For the first time in school history, the Blue and Orange are ranked in
the most recent edition of the D2SIDA West Region Poll, which was released on Monday afternoon. The Sunbirds rank third in the league as a team in scoring, averaging 75.8 points per game to this point in the season.

About the Urban Knights (2-9, 1-7 PacWest)
After falling to Biola on Monday evening, ARTU enters play this week looking to snap its' current four-game losing skid. Junior guard Brianna Cates has been held under ten points just once this season and currently ranks fourth in the league in scoring, averaging 17.2 points per game.
The Urban Knights won the first seven head-to-head meetings against FPU, but the Sunbirds have won each of the last two.
Last season in San Francisco, Alvarez connected on 11-of-16 from the floor, including 8-of-11 from behind the arc, to total 31 points en route to a 78-76 victory.
