TURLOCK, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's and women's track and field teams competed for the final time before the NCAA Championships this weekend, as the Sunbirds had a successful two days at the Warrior Last Chance Open.
A pair of school records highlighted the meet, as
Andrew Morin broke a long-standing mark in the pole vault and
Kala McClain lowered her program-best time in the 100m dash.
Morin, who had been knocking on the record's door for the last few weeks, finally broke through as the junior cleared 16-07.50 as the sun was setting. He broke the mark of 16-06.25 set by Steve Hardison in 1973 at the NAIA National Championships. The clearance also is an NCAA provisional mark.
McClain highlighted the track events, as the junior from Clovis West ran 11.88 in the 100m. She lowered her own school record, which previously stood at 11.94. She improved her provisional mark for the NCCA Championships and ranks inside the top-35 in the nation.
The men's team also had season best marks from
Andre Woodson,
Norman Napolitano and
Elijah McDowell at the meet. Woodson ran 10.67 in the 100m dash to move himself into the program's top-10 list at sixth. Napolitano cleared 15-07.25 in the pole vault (sixth at FPU), while McDowell jumped 45-02.50 in the triple.
For the women,

Vicki Arevalo also had a season-best time in the 5000m, as the distance specialist went 17:54.68 to improve her stranding in seventh in the record book. On the field,
