IRVINE, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific baseball team split a PacWest Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, defeating Concordia 11-5 in the opener before dropping the series finale 5-0.Â

GAME 1:Â
• The Eagles opened the scoring in the first inning, when leftfielder Alex Dimascio plated a run with an RBI groundout to third.
•
Nate Case walked and stole second to begin the Sunbird third, and
Eddie Sievers followed with a single up the middle.
•
Tristen Alvarez then reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Case to even the score, and
Hunter Villanueva reached an an outfield error that gave FPU a 2-1 lead.
•
Braden Frankfort and
Ross Dodds each picked up an RBI before the inning drew to a close, pushing the Sunbird edge to 4-1.
• In the fourth, the Blue and Orange picked up where they left off, starting the frame with a
Nick Dodd single and a
Haden Haynes walk.
•
Nate Case put both runners in scoring position with a sacrifice bunt, and Sievers reached on a fielder's choice that brought Dodd in from third.
• Villanueva added a sac fly for the final run of the inning, as the Sunbird lead swelled to 7-1.
• Concordia threatened offensively in the home half but was forced to settle for one on a fielder's choice off the bat of Nick Grimes.
• Dodds doubled to lead off the fifth and came in to score on
Robby Steves' single to right-center.
• Two more Sunbird runs came in to score in the seventh to make it 10-2, but Dimascio added a score for the Eagles with a single to right in the bottom half.
• Villanueva homered to right-center in the eighth, setting a new single-season program record with his 11th of the season.
• A pair of doubles gave the Eagles their final two runs of the game, but the 'Birds were able to pick up their lone victory of the series.
• FPU starter
Nic Boatman turned in another strong outing on the mound, striking out six and surrendering just one earned run over six innings.
• Lefthander
Kobie Anton tossed the final three innings for the Sunbirds, earning the first save of his collegiate career.Â

GAME 2: Â
• The Eagles wasted no time getting on the scoreboard in the nightcap, scoring on a bouncing single up the middle in the first frame.
• Dominic Castro took two bases on a wild pitch in the second, extending the Eagles' lead to 2-0.
• Dimascio picked up his second RBI of the game an inning later, plating shortstop Haloa Dudoit on a sac fly to deep center.
• Chris Martin and Juan Zuniga kept the offense rolling, helping Concordia to scratch across a run in each of the game's first five innings.
•
Jarrett Anton singled in the top of the sixth to break up Joshua Ibarra's no-hit bid, but the Sunbird offense failed to score a run for just the third time this season.
•
Josue Mendivil took the loss for the Blue and Orange after he was tagged for three earned runs over just 2.1 innings of work.
• The first man out of the Sunbird bullpen,
Thomas Camargo surrendered a single unearned run over the next 1.1 chapters.
•
Jonathan Molina and
Carson Schellenberg teamed up for the final seven outs on the mound, striking out three Eagles along the way.Â

• The Sunbirds return to action next weekend, when they head south to take on Point Loma in San Diego. First pitch of Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for noon from Carroll B. Land Stadium.
