IRVINE, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific baseball team came up just short twice on Friday afternoon, falling in the opener of a PacWest doubleheader by a final of 5-4 before dropping the nightcap 8-7 in 12 innings.

GAME 1:Â Â
• Concordia third baseman Hunter Holland opened the scoring with a two-run shot to left in the home second, and teammate Haloa Dudoit extended the lead with a sac fly an inning later.
• Tony Garcia put the Eagles in front with a sac fly of his own in the fourth, and Dudoit struck again with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth.

Eddie Sievers and
Tristen Alvarez opened the final inning with back-to-back walks, and
Hunter Villanueva followed with a double to left that got FPU on the scoreboard for the first time.
• Catcher
Braden Frankfort and designated hitter
Robby Steves each picked up an RBI single, and
Nick Dodd plated a run two batters later to cut the deficit to one.
• The Sunbirds stranded the tying run at third base, allowing the Eagles to hang on for the series-opening victory.

Esteban Lizaola took the loss for the Blue and Orange after allowing four earned runs over 7.1 innings.
• Reliever
Carson Schellenberg struck out the only two Eagles he faced out of the Sunbird bullpen.
GAME 2:Â Â
• Sievers and
Jarrett Anton began Game 2 with back-to-back doubles, and a Villanueva single helped the Sunbirds take an early 2-0 lead.
• Behind some help from an FPU error, the Eagles answered with three runs in the second inning to take their first lead of the game.

Nick Dodd tripled home a pair in the top of the sixth, but the Eagles got them both back on a double off the bat of first baseman Bailey Collins in the home half.
• Frankfort opened the eighth inning with his fourth homer of the season, tying the game at 5-5.
• Two Eagle runs came in to score in the eighth inning, but the Sunbirds refused to go quietly, loading the bases in the ninth frame.
• Frankfort was hit by a pitch and
Ross Dodds drew a walk, helping FPU to tie the game at seven apiece.
• Both teams had opportunities over the next three innings, but Concordia outfielder Alex Dimascio finally ended the game with a walk-off sac fly in the home 12th.
• FPU starter
Alex Garcia issued a season-high five walks and allowed 10 hits for just the second time, but just one of his five runs were earned.
•
Tyler Rumbaugh took the hard-luck loss in relief, allowing the final run over 3.2 innings of work.
