FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific baseball team struggled to produce runs on Friday, falling 1-0 in the opener of a doubleheader against California Baptist before dropping the nightcap by a final of 7-1.

GAME 1:Â Â
• CBU first baseman John Glenn was hit by a pitch to open the fourth inning and trotted in to score on a fielder's choice three batters later.
• Sunbird starter
Alex Garcia was saddled with the hard luck loss after tossing 7.1 innings and picking up seven strikeouts.
• Relievers
Jonathan Molina and
Tyler Rumbaugh combined to strike out four of the five batters they faced, giving the FPU bullpen their strongest outing of the season.
• For CBU, Andrew Bash collected his seventh win after pitching into the eighth inning and scattering just four base hits.
• Brody Robinson retired the only man he faced out of the Lancer bullpen, and Logan Rinehart locked down his second save of the year.
GAME 2:Â Â
• Angelo Capalupo singled to left to plate two runs and start the scoring in the second inning, and teammate Ryan Mota homered to left two innings later to give CBU a 3-0 cushion early.
• Bash came up with an RBI to plate Capalupo in the fifth, and right fielder Tommy Bell hammered a three-run shot in the seventh to give the Lancers a trio of insurance runs.

Angel Flores plated the lone Sunbird run of the day in the final inning, singling to left to plate
Ross Dodds from second base.

Josue Mendivil was credited with four earned runs before turning things over to the FPU bullpen.
• Despite allowing three unearned runs,
Kobie Anton and
Thomas Camargo teamed up for the final seven outs of the game.
