FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific volleyball team opened up its final road trip of the season on Wednesday night, as the Sunbirds fell to Hawai'i Hilo 3-1 in PacWest play on the road.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Final: Hawai'i Hilo 3, Fresno Pacific 1
Set Scores: 25-15, 25-21, 19-25, 25-19
Records: UHH (20-6, 16-4 PacWest), FPU (7-22, 6-14 PacWest)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds rebounded from an early 7-2 deficit to tie the game at 12 all, which forced a timeout from Hawai'i Hilo in the opener. The Vulcans answered back, however, and closed the set with an offensive explosion to take an early lead in the match. UHH hit .441 in the opening frame.
• FPU then couldn't slow the Vulcan offense in the second frame. The 'Birds trailed 14-13 before a 4-0 run made the difference for UHH.
• A kill from Carley Bock handed FPU a 7-6 lead in the third frame, which forced a Vulcan timeout. The 'Birds went on to lead 17-10 before cruising to the set win.
• FPU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the fourth, but UHH put away any idea of a comeback with a 9-2 run to take control of the match.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
• The Sunbirds received 15 kills from Bock in the setback, while Madison Pierce added 13 and Caroline Bodziak 11. Greta Dobenecker dished out 47 assists and added 12 digs.
• Sierra LeBeau led the FPU defense with 14 digs and Christina Tran added 11.
• UHH made the difference at the net, totaling 23 blocks to FPU's four.
• Bria Beale led all players with 20 kills, while Jesse Ashton added nine blocks for the Vulcans.
