Sunbirds Send Off Seniors in Style

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific volleyball team sent its seniors off in style on Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Holy Names in PacWest play. Carley Bock and Madison Pierce led the way for the second straight game, totaling 17 and 14 kills, respectively, in the win.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

Set Scores: 25-15, 25-17, 24-26, 25-23
Records: FPU (7-21, 6-13 PacWest), HNU (6-22, 5-14)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds jumped on the Hawks early to lead 8-3, which forced a timeout from HNU. FPU then cruised to the set win while holding HNU to a negative attack.
• FPU continued its momentum into the second frame, hitting .303 in the set. Pierce led the charge with five kills in the frame.
• After HNU stole the third set, the 'Birds responded in the fourth behind Bock. She put down seven kills, three coming in the final five points to give FPU the match victory.
 
STATS OF THE MATCH:
• Bock's 17 kills were a game high and it came on .238 hitting. She also added 11 digs. Pierce was the only other player to finish with double-digit kills (14).
• Caroline Bodziak added nine kills for the 'Birds, while Jaalyn Sotoa-Stuebing totaled seven.
• Greta Dobenecker amassed a double-double of 45 assists and 20 digs, Sierra LeBeau totaled 16 digs, and Hannah Miller chipped in with nine scoops for FPU.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• FPU honored its five seniors prior the match: Dobenecker, Bodziak, Miller, Bock and Pierce. 
• Bock picked up her second straight double-double, her seventh of the season.
• Dobenecker totaled her 13th double-double of the year.
