FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific couldn't slow down the high-powered block of Azusa Pacific on Saturday, as the Sunbirds fell in straight sets in PacWest action. Set scores were 25-19, 25-23 and 25-22 in favor of the first-place Cougars.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Cougars led early in the opening set before the Sunbirds started to mount a comeback. A 7-3 run wasn't enough for FPU as APU jumped ahead 1-0 in the match.
• FPU then stormed ahead 6-0 in the second frame, but APU raced back to win 25-23.
• The Cougars finished off the win after separating themselves in the middle of the final frame with a 7-3 run.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
•
Mikayla Kennedy led the Sunbirds with seven kills, while
Caroline Bodziak and
Carley Bock added six apiece.
Greta Dobenecker dished out 30 assists for FPU.
• The defense was headed by
Sierra LeBeau, who totaled 21 digs. Kennedy added four blocks at the net, while Bodziak chipped in with three.
• APU received 10 kills from Julianne Miller and six blocks from Sara Wagenveld.
