Sunbirds Soar Past Eagles

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's basketball team picked up a win in its final non-conference game of the season, as the Sunbirds defeated West Coast Baptist 85-44. Four Sunbirds scored in double-figures as FPU shot 55 percent as a team in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds went on a 20-5 run over the final nine minutes of the first half to head into the locker room up 39-20.
• FPU then exploded for 46 second-half points to run away with the victory at the Special Events Center.
 
STATS OF THE GAME:
• Jake Straughan led the Sunbirds with 19 points and five threes, while Sam Burt added a double-double of 18 points (8-11 FG) and 14 rebounds.
• Oliver Herting scored 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting, Adrian Antunez chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds and three assists, Aamondae Coleman added nine points and eight rebounds and Toby Christensen pulled down 14 rebounds, scored six points and dished out four assists for FPU.
• The Sunbirds outrebounded the Eagles 56-33 and out-scored their opponent 58-4 in the paint. FPU also dished out 21 assists on 37 field goals.
• Daniel Foster scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds for West Coast Baptist.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• Burt's double-double was his fourth of the season, while his 14 boards marked a career high.
• Christensen's 14 rebounds also marked a career best.
• The Sunbirds had their best defensive effort of the season, holding WCB to 19 percent shooting and 44 points.
 
UP NEXT:
• The Sunbirds head to Los Angeles to renew its rivalry with Biola on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
