VALLEJO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific fell in overtime to Cal Maritime, 82-77, on Tuesday night in non-conference action. The Sunbirds led with under a minute to play, but the Keelhaulers forced extra time before escaping with a win on their home floor.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds struggled in the opening half and trailed 40-31 at halftime.
• After FPU fought back in the second period, Sam Holmes drained a three with 3:22 to play to give the 'Birds a 65-62 lead. CMA managed to tie the game with just over a minute to play, but FPU answered right back with a bucket from Sam Burt to make the score 68-66 with 52 seconds remaining.
• The Keelhaulers forced extra time with a jumper, however, and then eventually outscored FPU 14-9 in overtime.
 
STATS OF THE GAME:
• Burt led the Sunbirds with a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds, while adding four assists. He finished 6-of-9 from the floor and went 10-of-14 from the free-throw line.
• Adrian Antunez added 16 points, Jake Straughan scored 14 (2-of-5 FG) and Toby Christensen scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds for the 'Birds.
• FPU finished 27-of-36 from the charity stripe, but lost the turnover battle with 14 as a team.
• Cal Maritime, who finished the night shooting 46 percent, received 24 points from Josh Hauser and 20 points from Mike Meserole.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• Burt has now grabbed 10 or more rebounds in four games for FPU and has totaled three double-doubles.
• Straughan extended his streak of making at least one three in all seven games this season.
• The Sunbirds had a season-low in field goal percentage (.411) in the setback.
