Sunbirds Drop PacWest Opener at NDNU

BELMONT, Calif. – Fresno Pacific dropped its PacWest opener on Thursday night to Notre Dame de Namur, 79-73, despite a career-high 25 points from Tyler Harris.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds found themselves down 11 after a slow start to the game. FPU managed to finish the opening half shooting 56 percent, however, to only trail 43-38 at the intermission.
• The 'Birds then eventually led 56-52 following a three from Harris with 7:52 to play, which proved to be their largest lead of the night.
• With the score 66-66, the Argonauts ran off an 11-2 stretch the final three minutes that proved to be the difference.
 
STATS OF THE GAME:
• Harris scored the game-high 25 points for FPU on 9-of-11 shooting, while draining all four of his attempts from deep. He added four rebounds and three assists.
• Oliver Herting added a season-best 16 points (8-10 FG) for the Sunbirds, while Toby Christensen chipped in with nine points, eight rebounds and two assists.
• FPU finished the night shooting 56 percent from the floor and added 40 points in the paint.
• NDNU received 22 points from Chazz Wade and 20 points from Ty Peacock.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• Harris' career night only featured two missed shots, as he collected his second double-digit effort of the season.
• Herting holds a career average of 16.5 points per game at Walter Gleason Gymnasium. His career high of 29 points came in Belmont last season.
 
UP NEXT:
• FPU stays in the Bay Area and will face Holy Names on Saturday at 4 p.m.
