Game Recap: Baseball |

Scott's hit streak comes to a halt at 26 as FPU falls at #21 DSU

ST. GEORGE, Utah - Fresno Pacific suffered a doubleheader sweep at the hands of #21 Dixie State on Saturday by scores of 15-3 and 10-1. FPU's Preston Scott extended his program-record hitting streak to 26 games in game one but had the streak snapped after going 0-for-3 in the second game.

Joey Gallegos collected five hits on the day, including three doubles, to lead the Sunbirds (13-19, 8-10 PacWest). Leo Carrillo added three hits.

Starting pitchers Rickie Garcia and Josh Medeles were each hung with the loss for FPU.

DSU's Samuel Hall went a combined 6-for-9 with 11 RBI on the day to lead the Red Storm (27-6, 15-4 PacWest).

Scott's hitting streak is a program record. The previous mark was 17 games, which was done by Tyler Pryor in 2010 and again by Wes Dorrell in 2011. Scott also had a 16-game hitting streak last year.

The teams conclude the four-game series tomorrow at 11 am PST, noon MST.
