ST. GEORGE, Utah - #21-ranked Dixie State scored seven runs in the first three innings as Fresno Pacific suffered a 9-4 loss and a four-game sweep at DSU.
The Sunbirds (13-20, 8-11 PacWest) scored a run in the fourth and three in the fifth to get back within striking distance at 7-4 but would be unable to draw any closer.
Derek Arkelian went 4-for-5 with a stolen base to lead FPU.
Bryan Bucher added a 2-for-3 day with a double.
Leo Carrillo and
Nick Pate added two hits apiece as well.Â

Davy Vartanian, making his second start of the year, gave up 11 hits and six earned runs in 4 1/3 innings of work to take the loss. FPU totaled 14 hits in a losing effort.
Leadoff hitter Tanner Morache went 4-for-5, finishing a home run short of the cycle to lead the Red Storm (28-6, 16-4 PacWest).
The Sunbirds are back on the road next weekend, traveling to the Bay Area to face Holy Names on Friday and Saturday.
