Biography

As a Junior (2016) - Appeared in 12 games with 11 starts on the mound....posted a 4-3 record....struck out 43 batters in 73.2 innings pitched.

Prior to FPU - Played four years of baseball at Redwood High School including three on varsity for coach Dan Hydash....as a senior, posted a 10-2 record with 73 strikeouts and a 0.73 ERA....was an offensive threat as well, hitting .405 with a .612 slugging percentage....drove in 35 runs with 13 doubles, a triple, and three home runs....scored 33 runs and stole eight bases....was named team MVP his senior year....named Baseball Player of the Year by the Visalia Times Delta....named Defensive Player of the Year as a junior....also competed on the varsity football team, and was named team MVP his senior year.

Personal - Parents are Rick and Diana Garcia....has two sisters: Savannah and Rebekah....person he most admires is his dad....greatest sports thrill thus far was hitting a walk-off double vs. Fresno High School his junior year....chose Fresno Pacific because of the great atmosphere and competitive quality of the team....likes to eat Top Ramen....favorite movie is Straight Outta Compton....roots for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Dallas Cowboys....favorite athlete is Bo Jackson....person he would most like to meet is Stephen Curry....likes to pray as a pregame ritual....friend on another team is Alec (Baby) Gamboa who plays at Fresno State....Rickie is a kinesiology major with plans of becoming a professional baseball player.
