ST. GEORGE, Utah - Fresno Pacific jumped out to a 4-2 lead but couldn't hang on as #21 Dixie State handed the Sunbirds a 9-6 loss in game one of a four-game PacWest series.

McKay France each totaled three hits for FPU.
Preston Scott extended his hit streak to 25 games with a single in the first.
FPU held leads of 2-0 and 4-2, but DSU scored five runs in the bottom of the third to take a lead they would not relinquish.
Jake Martinez worked six innings, giving up six earned runs to take the loss as FPU fell to 13-17, 8-8 in PacWest play.
The Red Storm improved to 25-6, 13-4 in PacWest.
The two teams continue the series tomorrow at 3 pm Pacific, 4 pm Mountain time.
