As a Junior (2015) - Started a team-high 14 games in the rotation for the national champion Sunbirds....posted a 7-4 record with a 4.14 ERA in 78 1/3 innings while striking out 64....earned PacWest Pitcher of the Week honors after striking out 11 over seven innings, giving up just three hits and one run in win over Stanislaus State (2/5)....struck out 10 in 7 2/3 to earn the win at Cal State East Bay (3/21)....tossed seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in NCCAA World Series opening win over Toccoa Falls.

Prior to FPU - Pitched for two seasons at Fresno City College under coach Ron Scott....went 4-1 with a 2.78 ERA in final season....played four years at Bullard High School including three on varsity for coach Chad Thornhill....was a part of three straight CMAC championship teams.

Personal - Parents are Rene and Diane....has four brothers: Ryan, Adam, Aaron and Eric....chose FPU for its great academics and community....favorite food is Castillo's....favorite movies are Rush Hour, Bad Boy and 42....favorite team is the San Francisco Giants....favorite athlete is Bo Jackson....person he most admires is his older brother Eric....hobbies include cooking and working out....Jake is a kinesiology major with plans of becoming a P.E. teacher/coach.
