TURLOCK, Calif. - Stanislaus State took both games of a doubleheader on Saturday as the Warriors fought back to split the four-game series with Fresno Pacific.
FPU managed just five hits, all singles, in game one as the Warriors' Jordan Kron tossed eight scoreless innings to earn the win in game one, a 9-0 Stanislaus victory. Freshman
Rickie Garcia made his first career start for the Sunbirds, surrendering five earned runs over six innings while striking out five.
In game two, the Sunbirds trailed 4-1 before RBI hits by
McKay France and
Leo Carrillo tied it up 4-4 in the top of the fourth. The FPU bullpen surrendered four runs in the bottom half of the inning however as the Warriors retook the lead for good, going on to win 10-4.
Hunter Villanueva finished 2-for-2 with two walks and an RBI.
McKay France went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
The Sunbirds are back home next weekend, hosting San Francisco State on Friday at 4 pm.
