PACWEST STANDINGS
As of October 30, Fresno Pacific currently sits in seventh place in the PacWest Conference standings. Hawai'i-Hilo is in 14th place, while Hawai'i Pacific is in 10th.

ABOUT FRESNO PACIFIC (6-7-3, 5-4-2)
The Sunbirds went 1-1-0 last week, defeating California Baptist 4-1 on Thursday before falling by the same score to Concordia on Saturday afternoon. Jorge Chedraui posted a big week individually, recording an assist on Thursday's opening goal before adding two goals of his own in the same game. He added another score on Saturday to prevent the Sunbirds from being shut out, and he currently leads the team in shots (60), goals (9), assists (8) and points (26).

ABOUT HAWAI'I-HILO (1-13-1, 0-10-1)
The Vulcans enter this week on a seven-game skid and most recently suffered losses against Azusa Pacific and Point Loma at home last week. Jake Sagami's three scores lead the team, though Jonathan Garcia has taken more shots than any of his teammates. UHH has rotated through three goalkeepers, but Joshua Jasper has seen the most time in the net, recording 27 saves in eight starts this fall.

SERIES HISTORY: SUNBIRDS VS VULCANS
The Sunbirds have never lost to Hawai'i-Hilo, claimining a 4-0-0 record in the all-time series while outscoring UHH 13-2 in that span. In last season's 3-1 victory, Chedraui provided all three scores to earn his third career hat trick. Chedraui has scored the game-winner in each of his three career meetings against the Vulcans, and he has totaled five scores.

ABOUT HAWAI'I PACIFIC (4-6-4, 4-4-2)
The Sharks enter Saturday's game fresh off a 4-3 win over Azusa Pacific and will look to continue the momentum against with two contests this week before making the journey to Fresno on Saturday. The HPU offense goes through Sven Koenig, whose 17 goals are good enough for tops in the PacWest Conference. Erik Kemsies has assisted on nine scores this season, and the Sharks have outshot their opponents 226-150. Chandler Schur has racked up 25 saves in the net as the primary Shark keeper this fall.

SERIES HISTORY: SUNBIRDS VS SHARKS
The Sunbirds are 3-3-1 in the all-time series against Hawai'i Pacific, but FPU has struggled in recent seasons. The Sharks claimed three straight victories from 2012-14 and played the Blue and Orange to a 0-0 tie last season. The last two meetings have totaled three overtime periods, and HPU won the only meeting in Fresno since both schools have been in the PacWest (2014).

HEAD COACH JAIME RAMIREZ
In 25 seasons, Jaime Ramirez has coached the Sunbird men to a 300-150-31 record that includes a pair Pacific West Conference Championships (2013, 2015), eight Golden State Athletic Conference Championships (1991, 92, 98, 99, 2002, 03, 05, 11), four Region Championships (1999, 2003, 2007, 2012) and five NAIA National Championship Tournament appearances (1999, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2009). His 300 wins are the most in FPU men's soccer history.

As a player, his career records for most goals scored (54) and most points scored (134) stood for nearly twenty years. They were finally surpassed in 1999 by striker Edgardo Contreras (61, 141). Ramirez was a four-time Fresno Pacific MVP, four-time NAIA All-District Three award winner and three-time NAIA All-America honoree. As a senior in the 1980 campaign, he led the (then) Vikings to the school's first NAIA District 3 championship.

Ramirez played one season (1982) for the Los Angeles Aztecs of the North American Soccer League, and then returned to Fresno to complete his education. He played 20 seasons in the San Joaquin Soccer League, the last seven with SC San Marcos. He helped San Marcos to the state semifinals in 1996 before retiring in 1997.

In his first season as head coach, Ramirez guided the Sunbird men to an impressive 15-2-1 record and was honored by his peers as the NAIA District 3 and All-Far West Coach of the Year. He has gone on to receive numerous coaching honors, most recently the PacWest Coach of the Year distinction in 2013.
