SCHEDULE NOTES
After this week, FPU hosts Hawaii Hilo on Nov. 3 and will celebrate Senior Day on Nov. 5 against Hawaii Pacific to wrap up the regular season.

PACWEST STANDINGS
As of October 25, Fresno Pacific currently sits in ninth place in the PacWest Conference standings. California Baptist is fourth, while Concordia is in second place.

ABOUT FRESNO PACIFIC (5-6-3, 4-3-2)
The Sunbirds went 1-0-1 last week, defeating Academy of Art 4-2 on Wednesday before playing Holy Names to a scoreless tie on Saturday. Senior forward Jorge Chedraui currently leads the team in shots (51), goals (6), assists (7), and total points (19). Matias Fernandez has anchored the net for the Blue and Orange this season, tallying 55 saves through 14 starts.

ABOUT CALIFORNIA BAPTIST (10-4-0, 6-3-0)
The Lancers enter this week with a four-game winning streak on the line, though three have those have been separated by just one goal. Aidan Apodaca's eight goals and 19 points lead CBU, while Junior Guerra has assisted on a team-high four scores. Noah Oyler has been the primary of three CBU goalies, recording 26 saves in just over 840 minutes.

SERIES HISTORY: SUNBIRDS VS LANCERS
Fresno Pacific claims a 32-9-1 advantage in the all-time series, including win the last three meetings. In last year's 3-1 home victory, Jorge Chedraui was credited with the game-winner after a double assist from Benjamin Cowdrill and Dylan Rusconi. CBU's last win against FPU came in Fresno in 2012, when the Lancers defeated the Sunbirds 4-2 in the PacWest opener.

ABOUT CONCORDIA (8-4-2, 7-2-0)
Concordia comes into this week with a three-game winning streak of their own, outscoring opponents 14-5 in that span. Most recently, the Eagles edged Notre Dame de Namur 5-4 on Saturday, with Miguel Mendoza sinking a penalty kick in overtime to earn the game-winner. Connor Gordon's nine scores this fall are good enough for best on the squad, while Jordan Brinkley's 73 saves puts him atop the PacWest Conference leaderboard.

SERIES HISTORY: SUNBIRDS VS EAGLES
The Sunbirds stand 21-6-2 in the all-time series against Concordia, though the two teams have met only once since both joined the PacWest Conference. That contest came last October, and the Sunbirds ran away with a 9-2 victory in front of their home crowd. Six different FPU players found the back of the net, while Joey Belzil recorded his second hat trick of the season.

HEAD COACH JAIME RAMIREZ
In 25 seasons, Jaime Ramirez has coached the Sunbird men to a 300-150-31 record that includes a pair Pacific West Conference Championships (2013, 2015), eight Golden State Athletic Conference Championships (1991, 92, 98, 99, 2002, 03, 05, 11), four Region Championships (1999, 2003, 2007, 2012) and five NAIA National Championship Tournament appearances (1999, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2009). His 300 wins are the most in FPU men's soccer history.

As a player, his career records for most goals scored (54) and most points scored (134) stood for nearly twenty years. They were finally surpassed in 1999 by striker Edgardo Contreras (61, 141). Ramirez was a four-time Fresno Pacific MVP, four-time NAIA All-District Three award winner and three-time NAIA All-America honoree. As a senior in the 1980 campaign, he led the (then) Vikings to the school's first NAIA District 3 championship.

Ramirez played one season (1982) for the Los Angeles Aztecs of the North American Soccer League, and then returned to Fresno to complete his education. He played 20 seasons in the San Joaquin Soccer League, the last seven with SC San Marcos. He helped San Marcos to the state semifinals in 1996 before retiring in 1997.

In his first season as head coach, Ramirez guided the Sunbird men to an impressive 15-2-1 record and was honored by his peers as the NAIA District 3 and All-Far West Coach of the Year. He has gone on to receive numerous coaching honors, most recently the PacWest Coach of the Year distinction in 2013.
